Long Beach 5K

I ran the Long Beach "Run Forrest Run" 5K sponsored by the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. yesterday. Came in at 29:45 at about a 9:35 pace. I was hoping for a bit faster but still managed to shave several minutes off my last run, so that is encouraging. Thanks to my wonderful wife and son for coming and cheering me on, despite the early hour. Check out Christy's blog for pics of the race and for some uber-cute pics of Liam.

Birthday Cake for Samantha

One of Liam's friends just started the GFCF diet and of course her 4th birthday is coming up next week. One of the greatest challenges in raising a child with sensitivities is making special events like birthdays as "normal" as possible. Christy and I volunteered to make a GFCF cake for her that will (hopefully) help her have a great birthday. I will post pics as the cake comes together.

Hello world! As this is my initial post of my blog, I would like to lay out its purpose and content. The objective of this blog is to act as a journal of life in the Johnson family; recording through my eyes the course of my family's life.

I would like to give an overview to the gentle reader on what I will be writing about and what I enjoy (some would say obssess over :)). I enjoy first and foremost spending time with my family (both physical and spiritual) and friends. My more pedestrian pastimes include building with LEGO bricks, Star Wars (LEGO...Star Wars...the ubergeek version of peanut butter and chocolate), cooking, reading, and working out.
